Kennington Park Cricket Ground
Kennington Park Community Cricket Ground

A partnership between Surrey County Cricket Club, Kennington United Cricket Club, Channel 4, Lambeth Council and local community charities/groups was formulated in 2000 to look at a provision of a new urban cricket ground in Kennington. The project has been mainly aimed at providing facilities for young people living in this under privileged area in South London. Studio Callaghan provided a wide range of project planning services since the inception of the project until 2007.

The Kennington Community Cricket Ground development has involved a number of architecture/landscape related projects including: the location of the cricket square and outfield, movement of paths, lighting, planting, safety nets, equipment storage, practice nets and feasibility studies for a pavilion.

An important part of the Kennington Park Community Cricket Ground has been the development of the Kennington United Cricket Club and the involvement of community groups. Young people and schools have been at the centre of the creation of the club infrastructure, coursework, skills programmes and the maintenance of the ground. These non visible assets have emerged alongside the development of the facilities and are a vital part of the success of the project.
